Sport-Sonic - the multifunctional Ultrasonic Wind Gauge

More than 10 Standard System Variants, i. e. Cable-, RF868-, WLAN- and Mobile Radio Versions for Track and Field Timing and Technical Disciplines

The ultrasonic wind gauge Sport-Sonic made by SPORTRONIC is a reasonably priced 2-axis ultrasonic wind gauge, integrated in a robust polycarbonate housing. It allows the measurement of wind speeds (0 ‑ 60 m/s) and wind direction data. This wind gauge has no moveable parts and can be operated maintenance-free for many types of applications. Due to special operation modes the wind gauge can be used for measurement parallel to a runway or a track or for measurement of wind speed and wind direction. Due to the used software-protocol it is possible to readily obtain information whether the wind gauge works properly. For this purpose a test functio is incorporated.

The SPORTRONIC ultrasonic wind gauge, type Sport-Sonic, was constructed in such a robust and stable manner, that the user does not have to consider any special precautions as this was necessary with vane anemometres in former times. The Sport-Sonic Ultrasonic Wind Gauge does not need any recalibration. It is maintenance-free as it is made of corrosion-free material. The 4-year testing interval concerning function and accuracy demanded by IAAF/ DLV remains however unaffected.

SPORTRONIC provides sports-specific and custom-designed products by combining standard­ised high-precision sensors with purpose-made hardware and software. SPORTRONIC’s ultrasonic wind gauge, type Sport-Sonic, uses the measuring head manufactured by Gill Instruments. The Sport-Sonic wind gauge with its meaursing head adaptor is DLV- and IAAF-compliant. Sport-Sonic Cable

  1. Cable connection between wind gauge and timing system. Control of the wind gauge by SPORTRONIC timing-system or third party system via RS232-interface.
  2. Cable connection between wind gauge and WLAN-Access-Point (AP 04). From there WLAN connection to the remote tablet PC.

... for technical disciplines

  1. Cable connection of wind gauge with WLAN-Access-Point (AP 03) via included 20 m cable connection. From there via WLAN to the remote tablet PC.
  2. Cable connection between wind gauge and WLAN-Access-Point (AP 04). From there WLAN connection to the remote tablet PC.

Sport-Sonic RF868

  1. Digital radio link in 868 MHz-range between wind gauge and radio-modem (TR868). From there via cable connection to the timing system. Control of wind gauge by SPORTRONIC timing system or third-party system via RS232-interface.
  2. Digital radio link in 868 MHz-range between wind gauge and radio-modem (TR868). From there via WLAN-Access-Point (AP 03) to the remote tablet PC.
  3. Digital radio link in 868 MHz-range between wind gauge and Access-Point (AP 04). From there via WLAN to the remote tablet PC.

Sport-Sonic Mobile Radio

  1. Mobile radio connection between wind gauge and control units, like Android tablets, notebooks or Android smartphones. Suitable for large distances.
